Council Secretariat

Toi te Taiao: the Bioethics Council was supported by a Secretariat. The Council Secretariat:

• Was an independent unit located within the Ministry for the Environment.
• Provided administrative support, research and policy advice to the Bioethics Council.
• Developed international contacts to assist the Bioethics Council maintain a watching brief on overseas developments in biotechnology.
